Durant sa première visite en Angleterre, James Marshall a eu cette histoire avec Eric Clapton.
James Marshall a été invité par l’un des promoteurs qui avait entendu parler de lui a travers un ami mais il n’a jamais écouté ni assisté à un jeu ou concert de James Marshall, un jeune homme du nord-ouest des États-Unis. Le promoteur a donc invité James Marshall à visiter un club où Eric Clapton était la star du spectacle et voulait que James Marshall joue pendant l’intersession comme ça, il peut voir comment la foule britannique réagira à ce gars yankee.
Ce promoteur en plein show a demandé à Eric Clapton pendant sa pause de laisser James Marshall combler le vide jusqu’à son retour sur scène.
Eric Clapton n’en était pas content et hésitait à laisser James Marshall monter seul sur scène, alors il a demandé au promoteur que James Marshall jouait à ses côtés.
Le promoteur a répondu que James Marshall n’allait pas rester longtemps, juste jouer une chanson et qu’il voulait juste voir comment la foule réagirait car James Marshall n’est pas du tout connu.
Alors Eric Clapton a accepté mais quand James Marshall est monté sur scène et a commencé à jouer avec sa propre guitare, le public est devenu fou et chaque fois que James Marshall voulait quitter la scène, tout le club ne le laissait pas le faire.
Eric Clapton n’est jamais revenu sur cette scène, il est parti pour toujours fou en enfer et James Marshall a quitté ce club pour Woodstock, d’autres endroits et l’île de Whight où je l’ai vu jouer au-delà du brouillard et après avoir traversé le pays de Londres à Brighton et prise du ferry à Southampton pour atterrir sur l’île de Wight
James Marshall était là et ce festival était sa dernière participation à un festival.
James Marshall est décédé prématurément le 18 septembre 1970 dans un hôtel a Londres alors que j’étais à Victoria Station, non loin du lieu de son décès. James Marshall est décédé dans la Fleur de l’Age.

During his first visit to England, James Marshall had this story with Eric Clapton. James Marshall was invited by one of the promoter who have heard about him through a friend but has never listen or attended a play by James Marshall, a young guy from the Northwest of the U.S. So the Promoter invited James Marshall to visit a club where Eric Clapton was the Star of the Show and wanted James Marshall to play during the intersession like that he can see how the British crowd will react to this Yankee guy.
This promoter in the middle of the show asked Eric Clapton during his break to let James Marshall to fill the gap until he came back on the stage.
Eric Clapton was not happy about it and was reluctant to let James Marshall to step on the stage by himself so he asked the promoter that James Marshall played on the side of him.
The promoter responded that James Marshall was not going to stay long, just play one song and get out that he wanted to see how the crowd will react because James Marshall is not known at all.
So Eric Clapton accepted but when James Marshall stepped on the stage and started playing with his own guitar, the public went crazy and every time James Marshall wanted to leave the stage the entire club will not let him to do it.
Eric Clapton never come back to that stage, he left for ever mad to hell and James Marshall Marshalled his way out of that Club to Woodstock, other places and Isle of White where I saw him playing beyond the fog and after I crossed the land from London to Brighton and taking the ferry boat at Southampton to land in Isle of Wight
James Marshall was there and this festival was last participation in any Festival.
James Marshall died prematurely on 18 September 1970 in a Hotel in London while I was at Victoria Station, not far from the place of this death. James Marshall passed away in the Fleur de l’Age.
